The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce’s (ICCC) India Mission 2022 has reached its midway mark with visits to Delhi, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad. The itinerary now includes stopovers in Jammu, Chandigarh and Dehradun. The India Mission 2022 has achieved a hitherto unparalleled landmark by meeting three chief ministers of three Indian states in the last three days.

The delegation met Hon. Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister on 31 March; Hon. Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat’s Chief Minister on 1 April; and Hon. Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab on 2 April. The Punjab CM was in Gujarat for an official visit.

The delegation is expected to meet Hon. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana, and Hon. Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand later this week.

“Never before has any ICCC India Mission managed to meet as many Chief Ministers. This is unprecedented and unparalleled,” Ripudaman Singh Dhillon, President, ICCC, said.

He thanked the delegation members for putting in a lot of effort to ensure that there was a full component of both political and business meetings at all the cities on the itinerary.

The ICCC President especially mentioned the role of SK Chadda, a special advisor to the Hinduja Group, who has recently been appointed to the Strategies Group of the ICCC. “Mr. Chadda brings tremendous experiences and contacts at all levels of the government and the bureaucracy,” Mr. Dhillon said.

“The ICCC India Mission 2022 visit and the success it has so easily managed to achieve in meeting both the political and business agenda is indicative of the change in the leadership of the ICCC,” said Virender Rathi, Corporate Secretary, ICCC.

“The new ICCC leadership is focused on results and not just efforts. Never before has the mission delegation mad so many meetings.” He said the new and emerging scenario on the trade front between Canada and India will provide a further impetus to the bilateral ties.

Hindustan Times report on ICCC delegation's meeting with UP Deputy CM

After a hectic two-days in Lucknow, where the India Mission 2022 delegation had meetings with political decision makers including the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, and a former Minister, along with key government officials, the delegation reached Ahmedabad where, once again, the itinerary was chock-a-block full with meetings and visits to prominent places.

After a brief but meaningful meeting with Hon. Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat’s CM, the delegation participated in the Memorandum of Understanding renewal ceremony with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries. This was followed by a business reception jointly organized by the Indo Canada Business Chamber (ICBC) and the ICCC.

Fortunately, the delegation leaders, who had been trying to arrange for meetings while on the go, heard from the office of the Punjab Chief Minister Hon. Bhagwant Mann, that he was in Ahmedabad and would be meeting the ICCC India Mission 2022 delegation on 2 April. In the meeting, Hon. Mann appealed that the Indo-Canadian delegation should become a catalyst for new investments in Punjab.
