ICCC-Delmar Global imports & exports seminar

 
 

Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) and Delmar International, a leading Total supply Chain and Logistic Company, organised a joint ‘Global Imports & Exports Seminar’ in Mississauga on 21 August 2014. The seminar was attended by the Indo Canadian importers, exporters, distributors, retailers and manufacturers. The seminar was informative for the audience as it presented opportunities for global trade in the light of changing international economic order.

  In his welcome remarks, Dharma P Jain, President, ICCC, emphasized the significance of the bilateral trade between Canada and India in the present globalised competitive world. He said that Canada in its Global Markets Action Plan 2013 puts India in the category of priority markets for Canada which will pave the way for more bilateral engagements to further enhance the trade ties between the two. He invited Delmar to open up an office in India and to be a part of ICCC led India Mission 2015.

Marvin Rosenzweig from Delmar International briefed the audience regarding the overall activities and areas of operations of Delmar. He apprised audiences about international presence of Delmar. He also mentioned how the clients can get benefit from the services provided by their company.

David Topper and Jim McEwan explained in details the various strategies for import & export as the rules and regulations are differ from country to country. They also advised the process involved and care to be taken during import and export documentation.

John Paul Evans spoke about the upcoming new tariff rates which will adversely affect the traders.  As of now all the countries have been enjoying the benefits of General Preferential Tariff (GPT) reduction of duty rates. These rates will be changed from January 1, 2015 as the countries will now fall under the Most Favoured Nation Agreement (MFN).

Raluca Alexe-Padina from Delmar explained the newly developed and implemented online tracking system for the freights as this will help the Delmar clients to plan their deals in advance to save time and help tracing status of their shipments.

Richard Ross from Export Development of Canada explained how the EDC can help the entrepreneurs and traders to develop their business in this competitive international market. He also explained the services EDC offer to importers and exporters.

Allan Shringi was the host and master of ceremony and he also gave the vote of thanks.

Members of ICCC board Mr. Tony Chawla, Mr. Brij K Sharma, Mr. Naval Bajaj, Mr. Sanjay Makkar and ICCC past president Mr. Ravi Seethapathy were also present at the seminar.
