Skills Development Initiative is a special initiative of The Indo Canadian Chamber of Commerce to empower the Indo Canadian Business Community and the Indo Canadian Diaspora . Through this initiative we equip Indo Canadians- primarily small business owners with special skill sets , knowledge and tools to ensure acceleration and growth of their business. These initiatives are funded by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development(MLITSD).

Our programs offered under the skills development initiative are developed by York University and offered online through a sophisticated Learning management system(LMS)

In 2022-23 , we offered a program titled Accelerating Digital Transformation for Small Business Owners- 120 Indo- Canadian small business owners participated in this program on accelerating business digital transformation. This highly customized skills development program focused on upskilling business founders and business owners for post-pandemic resilience and growth; and provided skills necessary to implement the digitalization of the business, including strategy, framework, and tools. The focus of this program was to assist the business owners to create a transformation roadmap to integrate the digital elements into their post-pandemic business.

We are currently offering in 2023-24, a program- Digital Drive: Enabling Small Business growth. This is a Digital Marketing Mastery Bootcamp, to help entrepreneurs and small businesses become self-sufficient in developing digital marketing strategies while implementing and evaluating digital marketing campaigns for business growth. This program will focus on practical skills to help you stay ahead of the curve help you effectively use digital and social media channels, explore Google Analytics, and set clear, actionable digital marketing strategies for your business . You will also get hands-on training in the latest tools and techniques, develop skills to succeed in website marketing, social media advertising, email marketing, and Google Ads.

Skills development in digital marketing is crucial in today's digital age, as businesses increasingly rely on online platforms to reach their target audiences and achieve their marketing goals. Here are some key skills that are valuable for professionals looking to excel in digital marketing:

  1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Understanding how search engines work and optimizing websites to rank higher in search engine results is essential. SEO involves keyword research, on-page optimization, link building, and staying up to date with search engine algorithms.

  6. Data Analytics and Reporting: Proficiency in using analytics tools such as Google Analytics to track website traffic, user behavior, conversions, and other key performance indicators. Analyzing data helps optimize marketing strategies and make data-driven decisions.

  7. Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Knowledge of CRO techniques involves improving website usability, user experience, and persuasive design to increase conversion rates. A/B testing, user feedback analysis, and understanding customer journey are key components.

  8. Mobile Marketing: Familiarity with mobile marketing tactics, including optimizing websites and ads for mobile devices, mobile app marketing, location-based marketing, and mobile advertising strategies.
