Putting the Covid-19 pandemic’s lockdown restrictions firmly behind, the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) launched its annual ‘India Mission’ on 28 March 2022 with a roundtable discussion on trade and investment between Canada and India at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PHDCCI) in Delhi. The PHDCCI is organizing roundtable discussions in all the cities that India Mission is scheduled to visit.

The ICCC’s ‘India Mission’ which will be on till 9 April 2022 focuses on promoting trade relations between micro and small businesses and explore investment opportunities in Canada and India.

Its focus is on the growing and economically thriving centres in North India. The multicity, multisector mission with whistle-stop visits to New Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jammu, Chandigarh, and Dehradun, will comprise meetings with political and government decisionmakers, industry and corporate leaders, representatives of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Association, micro and small business owners.

The participants included the India Mission delegates comprising members of the board of directors of the Chamber, and Indo-Canadian business and community leaders.

Speaking on the launch of the mission, Ripudaman Singh Dhillon, President, ICCC, said, “We are delighted to organize a successful India Mission after a gap of two years. The Covid-19 lock down restrictions prevented us from organizing the mission in 2020 and 2021.” Mr. Dhillon said the ICCC India Mission 2022 will benefit micro, small and medium enterprises both in Canada and in India.

The first day’s program included another roundtable with the Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association (TEMA). The two organizations – the ICCC and TEMA – agreed to form committees in key spheres of operations for both, including committees in education, small business, policy, etc.

The delegation will also be participating in a roundtable at the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI). The TPCI is gearing up to bring a 40-member trade delegation to Canada in the F&B sector in April. The ICCC will be organizing B2B meetings for this delegation. In case you are interested in participating in these B2B meeting, please write to Mayank at mbhatt@iccconline.org

The highlight of the India Mission 2022 is the visit to Jammu. This is the first visit by the ICCC to the Jammu and Kashmir region and the primary purpose is to support the Government of India’s endeavour to rapidly develop the region economically. In 2021, the ICCC had organized two virtual buyer-seller meetings in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), and the Consulate General of India in Toronto.
