President's Message

India Mission 2015

Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) will lead the trade mission to India from 04-18 January 2015, which will provide an opportunity to Canadian small businesses to explore the Indian market. The India Mission 2015 will visit Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Jaipur and New Delhi. Delegates will participate in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) and Vibrant Gujarat 2015 in Gandhinagar, where Canada is declared as partner country.

The mission will provide golden opportunity to meet captains of industry, government officials, diplomatic corps, and vibrant leaders of India. There will be briefing sessions by Canadian diplomats from trade commissioner’s office and network with local chambers of commerce and industry association.

The trade mission will focus on energy, education, science & technology, bilateral investment and other sectors. ICCC welcomes the leaders in the Canadian Small and Medium sectors to join the India Mission 2015 and explore the emerging opportunities in India.

Chamber's lapel pins:

New lapel pins are available at chamber’s office for its active members. New members are receiving them in their welcome package. Those who do not have they can contact chamber’s office for collecting one. All members are requested to wear the pin with great pride while attending chamber’s events.

Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce is a 37-year-old organization with twin objectives of fostering bilateral trade between Canada and India and creating entrepreneurial and professional opportunities for Indo-Canadians. It is run by an elected board with the help of various committees involving member.

ACTIVITIES IN OCTOBER 2014

November 13: Dharma P Jain President, ICCC met Mr. Bob Delaney and discussed with the role of chamber in the development of Canada India relations. Chamber is working as a bridge builder through its vibrant members especially in the business sector.  

November 14: Dharma P Jain President, ICCC has successful meetings with Susan Viegas, City of Toronto, BDC, Mississauga Branch and Mr. Anil, India Tourism regarding the different opportunities for sponsoring ICCC.

November 14: Dharma P Jain President, ICCC met with Drake International for affinity partnership to benefit the ICCC membership in the coming years.

November 14: Dharma P Jain President, ICCC has a meeting with Dr. Gurmeet Bambrah for exploring the possibilities for the government funding          for the chamber’s promotional activities and also for the upcoming ‘Centre for Excellence’. She has already arranged funding for CAPE and other organisations.

November 26: Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional Committee organised its first networking event ‘Meet & Greet’ on 26 November 2014 in Brampton. The event provided a platform for young entrepreneurs to network and discussion about their future plans to grow their career, professional and business endeavours. Mr. Sameer Sharma, Chair, Young Professionals Committee welcomed all the guests and informed to host events such as "Chai with CEO" and career fairs. Dharma P Jain, President of ICCC appreciated the committee’s initiative and congratulated them for the successful event. Mr. Tony Chawla, Vice President of the chamber informed the upcoming mega event of the chamber ‘Winter Gala 2014’. The event was attended by over 50 young professionals.

November 27: Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce organized an interactive panel discussion on, “Women in Business - Breaking the Glass Ceiling” on 27 November 2014 at the ICCC headquarter in Toronto. The session was part of ICCC-CIBC speaker series. It was focussed on the ICCC’s Women Entrepreneurs Professionals (WEP). Ms. Ginni Sethi, Director WEP of the Chamber welcomes all participants and said that the panel discussion will provide information on how women can get success in their businesses to scale new heights. Ms. Gillian Whitebread, Vice President- Diversity & Inclusion and Executive Talent Management was the main speaker. Ms. Hazel Fernandes, Senior Director- Executive Talent Management, Ms. Supreet Warna, Senior Director, Frontline Effectiveness and Fahra Murad, Manager, Sponsorship Marketing were the other panelist.

Your new board is committed to make this esteemed organization member friendly, open, transparent, and truly a business organization working to achieve its mission and vision.

Board is considering of - 

i) Publishing achievements of members in the upcoming issues of ICCC newsletter. Therefore, members are advised to send their achievements such as new position, additional qualification, awards etc. at iccc@iccconline.org.

ii) Publishing articles on different topics involving trade, commerce, tax etc. Interested writers can send their articles (500 words) at iccc@iccconline.org.

iii) Starting blogs on Chamber's website.  Send your resumes and subjects you wish to write a blog.

iv) Constituting a newsletter committee. Those who have flare of writing, designing and passionate about this, send in their resumes at iccc@iccconline.org.

Board is there to steer this august body in the direction provided by articles and by-laws and ensuring that interest of various stakeholders is protected. 

Board invites your suggestions and opinions regarding future events, newsletter content, and ask you to get engaged more and more and participate in Chamber events. You are the true ambassador of Chamber and your board is working for you in. Please feel free in contacting any board member.
