Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) deeply mourns the passing away of Hon. Deepak Obhrai, Member of Parliament from Calgary Forest Lawn.

Hon. Obhrai was a great leader of the Indo-Canadian community. He was the longest serving Member of Parliament in the House of Commons, never having lost an election in over two decades.

He worked tirelessly in improving Canada-India bilateral relations and in recognition of his passion, was honoured with the President's award by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) at the Annual Awards & Gala Night in June 2019.

In a statement released in Toronto, Pramod Goyal, President, ICCC, said, "Our Chamber and our community has lost a dear friend who dedicated his life to the community. Hon. Deepak Obhrai's untimely death has taken away a shining star from the Canadian public life. We pray that Deepak ji's family has the forbearance to face this tragedy with fortitude."

It may be recalled, Hon. Obhrai was the recipient of the President's Award at the ICCC's Annual Awards and Gala Night in June 2019.
