Harjit Singh Kalsi, former Vice President and Director of Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce, passed away away on 18 October following a complicated surgery at Toronto General Hospital.
Mr. Kalsi was actively involved with the Chamber for over two decades and volunteered for various activities. From 2003 to 2013 he held official positions in the Chamber, serving as the Chair of the Trade Committee, spearheading the trade initiative in the Canada-India trade corridor. As Vice President and Director, Mr. Kalsi led the Chamber in Finance, Administration, and Programs and Events.
Harjit, in his 66th year, was beloved husband of Kiran and adoring father of sons Baljit, Jaspal and Ajit. Harjit is survived by his sister Rosie. Much admired and respected by the Indo-Canadian community, Harjit will be deeply missed by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
“Harjit was always active and believed in upholding the sanctity of the organisation,” said Pramod Goyal, President, Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce. “His untimely passing is tragic. On behalf of the Chamber, I offer sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family.”
Harjit was a talented, kind, and gentle human being, with a sense of humour, quick wit, and zest for life. For him his family was his strength; he believed in celebrating good times together and supporting one another with love.
Harjit’s brother-in-law, Surjit Babra, is a member of the ICCC’s Advisory Board. The family has announced that the details of his viewing and funeral will be shared shortly as it awaits harjit's family members to arrive from around the world.
