“Markham has a proactive policy to create the right environment to support Markham’s high-skilled Indian Diaspora to enhance ties with Indian business especially in the hi-tech sectors,” Mayor Scarpitti said.
Commending Mayor Scarpitti for taking the lead in developing closer economic ties with India, Preeti Saran, Consul General, emphasised that India has now become a focal point for global companies for cost-competitive innovation. She added that Canada-India bilateral relations have matured because of the new global economic realities.

The main objective of India Mission 2012 is to create concrete and definite business and trade opportunities for the participating Canadian companies and help them forge ties with their Indian counterparts.
The meetings will revolve around issue areas pertinent to Canada-India business relations, and will focus on key verticals including:

“We have planned a series of high-calibre events and high-powered meetings at all the cities of the Mission to achieve this objective,” Thakkar said.
The Mission’s schedule offers networking, B2B meetings and information opportunities for the delegates. The delegates will also be able to participate in the annual Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD-India-2012) in Jaipur.
