Winter Gala 2014 (Holiday Dinner & Dance)
The Winter Gala - popularly known as the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC)’s Annual Holiday Dinner & Dance - is one of the Chamber’s marquee event will be held on 05 December 2014. The theme of this year’s Winter Gala is ‘The Royal Darbar’.
Our guests at the event include Chamber's esteemed members, sponsors, friends of the community, professionals, entrepreneurs, senior representative of corporations, government officials, political leaders, and opinion makers. The program comprises a blend of theme-based entertainment, spectacular song and dance sequences and sumptuous culinary delights.
Sports Forum 2014
In the light of Chamber’s previous activities in the different sectors, the ICCC board decided to launch the Sports Forum on December 05, 2014 for its annual mega event. Sports have deep roots in the Canadian society and a significant presence in both Canada and India. Canada is known for its National Sports Game ICE Hockey in which it has won World Championships in the past. Canada also offers various other National Sports such as Soccer, Basketball, Handball, Baseball etc.
Apart from that there are emerging sports in the country and Cricket is one among those sports. In the light of the above facts; Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce has decided to have a full day panel discussions on the subject on 5th December 2014. The forum comprises two panel discussions on Emerging Sports: Cricket and Popular National Sports.
India Mission 2015
Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) will lead the trade mission to India from 04-18 January 2015, which will provide an opportunity to Canadian small businesses to explore the Indian market. The India Mission 2015 will visit Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Jaipur and New Delhi. Delegates will participate in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) and Vibrant Gujarat 2015 in Gandhinagar, where Canada is declared as partner country.
The mission will provide golden opportunity to meet captains of industry, government officials, diplomatic corps, and vibrant leaders of India. There will be briefing sessions by Canadian diplomats from trade commissioner’s office and network with local chambers of commerce and industry association.
The trade mission will focus on energy, education, science & technology, bilateral investment and other sectors. ICCC welcomes the leaders in the Canadian Small and Medium sectors to join the India Mission 2015 and explore the emerging opportunities in India.

ICCC’s headquarters
As you are aware, that chamber has acquired 6, 000 square feet building last year. After the completion of the renovation work, the building is ready to host ICCC events in its own premises. ICCC has completed all the legal formalities to organise the events in its event floor. The very first event was organized on October 31, 2014 which was attended by over 50 ICCC members.
Chamber's lapel pins:
New lapel pins are available at chamber’s office for its active members. New members are receiving them in their welcome package. Those who do not have they can contact chamber’s office for collecting one. All members are requested to wear the pin with great pride while attending chamber’s events.
Know your Organization
Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce is a 37-year-old organization with twin objectives of fostering bilateral trade between Canada and India and creating entrepreneurial and professional opportunities for Indo-Canadians. It is run by an elected board with the help of various committees involving member.

ACTIVITIES IN OCTOBER 2014
October 01: Mr. Dharma Jain, President, Naval Bajaj, IPP and Chair, India Mission, Tony Chawla, VP-Event and Rajni Tekriwal, VP & Corporate Secretary, met Dr. K Radhakrishnan, Chairman, Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO). Your directors congratulated Dr. Radhakrishnan for India’s successful Mars mission ‘Mangalyaan’. Dr. Radhakrishnan was in Toronto to receive the Allan D. Emil Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to space science, space technology, space medicine or space law. It also helps to strengthen the Canada India space cooperation.
October 02: ICCC board members, Dharma Jain, Naval Bajaj and Rajni Tekriwal, participated in a function organized by Vishnu Temple in honour of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on Oct 02. . Hon. Prime Minister, Stephen Harper was the Chief Guest at the function and visited to the Monument of Fallen Soldiers and The Wall of Peace. Indo Canadian community participated in this celebration.
October 05: ICCC president had a very constructive meeting with past president Mr. Hari Pandey. Both shared their thought to make Chamber more community inclusive and vibrant.
October 07: Mr. Dharma P Jain and Naval Bajaj participated in the facilitation ceremony of Ms. Chanda Kochar, CEO and CMD of ICICI Group, who was conferred honorary Doctorate degree by the Carleton University in Ottawa. The event was also witnessed by Minister Ed Fast, Minister Bal Gosal, Senator Asha Seth and some other Members of the House of Commons.
October 08: Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce organized an interactive session on, “Keys to Successful Business Management” on 08 October 2014 in Toronto. The session was part of ICCC-RBC speaker series. Ms. Naznine Virjee, Vice President, Commercial Markets, Retail Sector, RBC Royal Bank was the guest speaker of the evening. She said that for a successful business; a strong blue print of a business plan is essential, supported with an effective marketing strategy. She also presented various techniques to manage a business successfully. This event was part of ICCC’s Women Entrepreneurs & Professionals Committee event and was very well attended and lauded.
October 08: ICCC President Mr. Dharma P Jain, Vice President Mr. Tony Chawla and Immediate Past President Mr. Naval Bajaj also attended Diwali Celebration at Queens Park with Premier Kathleen Wayne, organized by Panorama India.
October 10: ICCC President Mr. Dharma P Jain along with Mr. Naval Bajaj, Immediate past President, attended the memorial event in the honour of Late Mr. Vasu Chanchlani organised by Canada India Foundation. Mr. Jain said that Late Mr. Chanchlani was a great friend and guide of the Chamber. He was the recipient of chamber's first technology award. Mr. Naval Bajaj, in his remarks remembered late Vasu and his strong commitment for Indo Canadian community. He also recalled Late Mr. Vasdev Chanchlani's sponsorship for ICCC's research project on “Canada India bilateral relations: Unlocking its full potential”.
October 14: Mr. Dharma P Jain, President ICCC met with Mr. Pankaj Mehra from Scotia Bank to discuss the future collaboration between the chamber and the bank.
October 16: India is a country of future and future has arrived. Young and educated population of India, business friendly government and robust banking system will write the Indian growth story in the years to come. The growth potential in India is expected to propel Canada-India business ties, Benjamin Tal, Chief Economist, CIBC bank said. Mr. Benjamin Tal was addressing members and invited guests at the Speaker Series of Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce in Brampton. He further said that the world economy is going down but the trend in Indian economy is opposite to these developments. He added that the new Government in India is business friendly and have the potential to attract more investment to develop their economy with the reforms in regulations.
October 17: President Dharma P Jain had a meeting with Dr. Lucky Lakshmanan Chair, Canada India Foundation. Both the leaders discussed possibility of holding a joint event on the subject of Mining and Energy in the month of March/April 2015.
October 18: Chamber participated in National Diwali, organized by Hon. Deepak Obhrai at Hindu temple, Brampton. This was attended by Mr. Jain, Mr. Bajaj, Ms. Rajni, Mr. Chawla, Mr. Brij, Mr. Makkar, Mr. Gupta and other board members. This event was hugely attended by Federal and Provincial politicians and Indo Canadian community in big numbers. Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper was the chief guest.
October 21: "Manufacturing, service sector, optimum use of natural resources and young & skilled educated workforce will lead the Indian growth story in the coming years". Peter Hall, Chief Economist, Export Development Canada said on October 21, 2014. Hall was addressing ICCC members and invited guests at the Speaker Series of Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce in Brampton. “Overall, the economic opportunities between Canada and India are growing exponentially, especially due to the locally developed capabilities of the Indian economy,” Hall said. Analyzing the Indian economy at present and its future trends, Hall explained that India will continue to benefit from its younger demographic as around 50% of its population is under the age of 25.
October 22: President Mr. Dharma P Jain and Vice President, Event, Mr. Tony Chawla held a meeting with the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC). They discussed with them the future cooperation as BDC shown interest in joining chamber as sponsor.
October 30: Mr. Dharma P Jain and Mr. Naval Bajaj, participated in the ‘Make in India’ event organized by the Indian Consulate. With nearly 1.2 million Canadians who can trace their roots to India, strong people-to-people ties are a fundamental contributor to the growing trade relationship between Canada and India. India is a priority market under Canada’s Global Markets Action Planundefinedthe blueprint for creating jobs and opportunities for Canadians through trade.
October 31: Mr. Dharma P Jain ICCC President held a meeting with Ms. Beata Kratiuk from KMI Brokers at the Chamber’s office and discussed the possibilities of sponsorship for the ICCC’s upcoming Winter Gala 2014 and also talked on a Group Health Insurance Plan for chamber membership.
October 31: Modern civilization is engulfed with high degree of stress due to their extravagant life style. This is affecting our health, mental peace, family life and business success. Therefore, stress Management is essential in the modern competitive world to achieve excellence in businesses and other professions, said Nikhil Desai, International Speaker, Motivator & Trainer. Mr. Desai was interacting with the ICCC members at the ICCC headquarter at 924 The Eastmall Toronto on 31 October 2014.
